1993
Introduction to Ikebana
Our family moved to Japan where I was introduced to and joined the Tokyo Chapter of Ikebana International. I was enthralled with many spectacular presentations by ikebana Iemotos. I began lessons with the Ichiyo School where I found comfort and acceptance.
1994
Formal Training Begins
Started with Momoko Yamada and Anna Nakada for the first 4 years and then had 6 years with Iemoto Akihiro Kasuya while living in Japan. Upon returning to the States, I studied with Shirley Winkler, Executive Master. On-going training is with our current Iemoto, Naohiro Kasuya, via monthly Zoom workshops.
2007
Initiated Rochester Classes
Started offering weekly lessons, graduating several teaches in the first five years.
Lessons continue to be offered at all levels, both in-person and virtual.
2012
Established Ichiyo Ikebana of Rochester Branch
I received my Master’s Certificate from Iemoto, Akihiro Kasuya, and was appointed Director of the Ichiyo Ikebana of Rochester Branch.
